F.A.Q.

StreetBlast.com was founded in 2002, in order to start a website for Internet Marketing for specific clients acquired by Jake A. Wheat (Station Manager), who is still the current owner.  If you are visiting this website for the first time, this is the place to get most of the answers regarding what StreetBlast.com is all about.

If you do not find the answer to a question you have listed here, please feel free to e-mail us, and we will reply in 24 hours or less.

1. What services does StreetBlast.com provide?

A. StreetBlast.com provides a weekly LIVE & syndicated podcast interviewing the best independent musicians from across the World!  We utilize the BlogTalkRadio network, and was one of the original beta testers for that service!  Viva La BlogTalkRadio!

2. What is your mission statement?

A. StreetBlast.com’s purpose is to express our dedication to professionalism, perfectionist attitude and appreciation for Independent music by continuing to raise the bar, and to keep our finger on the pulse of independent music, by striving to provide a quality streaming broadcast through our own online radio network, communication methods, and promotional opportunities.

3. What types of music are you most interested in?

A. Rock, Hardcore, Industrial, Punk, Alternative, Pop Rock, Dance, Goth, & Experimental.  We do however accept other genres for review, and some music we receive often times we feel does not fit into a genre, but does fit into our radio format.  It’s not fair to discriminate on a genre classification, so we encourage all artists to submit their music.

4. Can I get more information on Jake Wheat, the Host of the StreetBlast Artist Interview Podcast?

A. Jake Wheat got his start in Internet Radio on a “station that no longer exists” as a character actor.  His show consisted of alternative music, keyed in by the Billboard charts long before royalties and the RIAA stepped in to control what could be played on Internet Radio.  A lof of freedom was given to Wheat during those days, but after the RIAA stepped in with stronger rules on what could be played, Wheat moved out of his “character role” and started an Independent Music Internet radio station called “UnderGroundLou.com,” which was dedicated to Indie music bands in Louisville, Kentucky.  This station is no longer active, because it was limited to a Kentucky market, and so Wheat decided to expand his station’s vision by going global.  Due to the rising costs of streaming Internet radio, and the ongoing regulations that conflict with Wheat’s preferred show format – the radio stream fell silent, and the podcasting began.

Jake Wheat is the voice (for both the Caretaker) and as himself in the popular CD “The Waverly Hills Sanatorium Audio Experience CD,” (a very haunted hospital in Louisville, Kentucky) – which has been featured on the Sci-Fi Channel, Fox News, and is available on iTunes.

Jake Wheat also WAS a Certified Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) for the State of Kentucky, although he does not work in the medical field anymore.  He served two years on an ambulance, and then another two years in a Level One Trauma Center. After the realization that there is too much stress and not enough money in that profession, he went back to school and is currently working on his BA in Marketing.  He is self-employed, has a life partner of seven years, and a gray cat named “Burt,” a black cat named “Eddie,” and a striped cat named “Abby.”

Wheat is sheduled to DIE on Sunday, June 22 2036.  Of course, this is just the stupid result of the famous website www.deathclock.com.  Jake will live forever.

People have asked if Jake has an iPod, and yes he does.  It’s a 120g video iPod that has absolutely NO space left for any more music.  It has every genre you can imagine, and of course – gets the StreetBlast Artist Interview Podcast, and all sorts of other stuff downloaded onto it regularly.  Poor iPod.

6. Can I use your logo on my website?

A. We are not lazy here at StreetBlast Internet Radio, and while some websites will say “here are some of our banners, use them…” we feel like that you deserve better!  So, we custom make art for your website, that you can use to link to us.  This artwork includes your band name, and is matched to make it look good on your page!  Just send an e-mail to: jake@streetblast.com, and let me know what size you want it to be, and I will work my magic… er, well we will.

7. You have not answered my question!?!

A. Then e-mail me ok?  I won’t bite!  Just make sure when you do e-mail me, that you watch for the “SpamArrest” confirmation page, you have to confirm your e-mail before I will get it!  Hey!  I get 600 e-mails a day, and 90% of them are spam!  It’s insane!  Click here to contact Jake Wheat.
